Clinical Practice For People Who Have Experienced Stress and Trauma

I specialize in working with clients who have experienced traumatic and stressful life events. While we often develop coping strategies that help us get through difficult moments, those same strategies can sometimes leave us feeling isolated, stuck, or overwhelmed over time. As a licensed clinical psychologist with over 20 years of experience, I provide supportive, compassionate care to help people heal after trauma and stress. I work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and deeply value each person’s lived experience. I also work with people who are helping loved ones who have been impacted by stress and trauma—it can be hard find ways to support a friend or family member and take care of yourself. My approach combines trauma-informed care with evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and mindfulness. Every person and every family is different, so I tailor my work to fit your unique needs, values, and goals. Together, we can create a safe, respectful space where you feel heard and supported as you work through challenges, build resilience, and cultivate more joy and connection in your life.

  • Being a teen or young adult in today’s world is stressful. That’s why you need real tools to help you cope with all of life’s challenges—from everyday stressors like homework, social media, finding your first job, and dating, to serious trauma resulting from bullying, physical or sexual assault, or community violence. Resilience isn’t something we’re meant to build alone—we need connection, support, and space to heal. Therapy can be an important part of that process. In our work together, we’ll focus on tools to help you cope, while also exploring your strengths, values, and lived experiences. I believe that healing happens in relationships, and my goal is to create a safe, respectful space where you feel seen, supported, and empowered to navigate life’s challenges.

  • If you’re watching a young person you love struggle with trauma, anxiety, or depression, you might be feeling helpless, frustrated, and exhausted. Parenting through a mental health crisis can be isolating and overwhelming. I help parents and caregivers better understand what their teen or young adult is experiencing, communicate more effectively, and navigate the emotional toll it takes on the entire family. You don’t have to figure this out on your own.

  • Healthcare providers are under an immense amount of stress—increased patient loads, the demands of charting, and managing challenging interactions on a daily basis. As a professor and clinical psychologist who has helped train healthcare providers (physicians, nurses, pharmacists, physical therapists, and dentists) on trauma-informed practice for over 20 years, I have a deep understanding and empathy for the systemic challenges that contribute to provider stress.. Together, we can create a safe space for you to understand and overcome compassion fatigue, secondary traumatic stress, burnout, and moral injury. My treatment approach involves tailored, tangible cognitive-behavioral and dialectical behavioral approaches to improve your life.

  • Starting your career can be daunting, particularly if you are experiencing other stressors in your life, like difficult family relationships or a lack of social support. You might feel overwhelmed with stress, self-doubt, anxiety, and difficulty getting things done. Together, we can create a space where you can problem solve and learn how to manage your stress in a healthy way. I enjoy helping early career professionals learn to bring their dreams into reality.
